The event was going to be held in an old Victorian swimming bath and titled "Noah's Big Splash" Taking this watery theme, I went set out to create the moment just after something has hit the water. In this case, the logo. <img src="http://payload160.cargocollective.com/1/0/31627/5505800/Rick_Matthews_Motion_Graphics_Artist_Big_Splash_Logo_01_900.jpg" width="900" height="900" width_o="900" height_o="900" src_o="http://payload160.cargocollective.com/1/0/31627/5505800/Rick_Matthews_Motion_Graphics_Artist_Big_Splash_Logo_01_o.jpg" data-mid="29656151" border="0" align="left"/> The text was created in Maya, along with the ocean background. After I had all the assests rendered out I took them into Photoshop for compositing. The challenge now was to animate what I'd created. To give it more scope, the logo wouldn't just hot the water from above. I wanted to create a journey that started out in space, burns through the atmosphere and finally crashes into the ocean. To see the final result, play the video below. My first concern was the "The Splash". Creating a moment frozen in time for the logo, was one thing. But animated that was another challenge all together. After lots of reading and research, the answer to the problem was using Realflow. Simulating the fluids in there, then bring it back into MAYA for rendering. <img
